Ulinzi Starlets triumphed 2-0 over Vihiga Queens in a thrilling Super Cup tie at the Utalii Sports Grounds on Saturday 30th September 2023.
The Cup is played between the previous season league and the Football Kenya Federation Cup winner. It is played to pave way for the incoming season and has now been played twice with the same teams with the military side winning both the ties.
The starlets brought in three players coming from the National Team duty that is; Mercy Airo, Sheryl Andiba and Ketsia Ngairah while the Queens only had one player on National duty, Janet Moraa. The match started on a high note with both teams launching attack after attack. The military side almost drew first blood in the wee minutes of the match but the attacks turned blunt.
Towards the end of the first half Ulinzi took control of the match and at the 40 minutes mark Ketsia Ngairah made a turn over to slice a well laid pass to Joy Kinglady who had not so much to do as she just did bend the ball beside Vihiga Queens goalkeeper electrifying the moment by sending al the military side players, technical bench and fanatics to the corner flag. The match went for the break with Ulinzi Starlets leading by a goal.

Back for the second half Ulinzi still took the absolute control of the match and seemed so much settled into the game and again the 58th minute Mercy Airo capitalized on the Queens defensive blunder and looped the ball over the head of the Queens goal keeper right into the back of the net to put Ulinzi ahead by two goals. Vihiga Queens Coach made a number of alternate substitutions to try come back into the game but Ulinzi in return made subs to counter and guard their lead until the 90+ minute whistle blow signaling the end of the match.
Ulinzi Starlets have now won the Cup twice beating Vihiga Queens on both occasions.
