The Rise of Gaspo Women Fc Midfielder Diana Wacera.
Gaspo Women Fc ranks among the top teams in the Kenya Women Premier League. The team has been home to a variety of top talents in the country overtime. Currently they top the Women Premier League table of course with only a difference of goals between them and Vihiga Queens.
In this segment we feature one of Gaspo Fc talented midfielder Diana Wacera. She is among the players who have rose in ranks all the way from the developmental stages of football until playing in the National Team. She has also passed through the prestigious MYSA program.

The developmental stages are very key in the upringing of any football player as this is always displayed even after one is grown and playing in the senior levels. Wacera has grown up in Kariobangi North where she Primary Schooled at Daniel Comboni Primary School. Here she did not entirely participate in football bearing in mind the restrictions that come from parents.
Despite all that she still managed to make it to the National levels held in Eldoret in the 2007. Wacera started her football journey playing in her hood.
“I want to loud Coach John Karosi, Coach Merch Achieng, Coach Stanley Okumbi and Coach Ann Aluoch for playing the vital role in equipping me with the necessary basics at that very young age. They go hand in helping me soo much at this older level. I will remain indebted to them.” She said.
She later joined Anointed High School in Kariobangi North and here she only attained to represent her school upto the regional levels. In 2010 while in form one she was selected under the MYSA program to play in the Norway Cup and managed to rank as the top scorer of the tournament. This achievement steered up her morale that she can get better and make it to much higher levels in football.
Upon finishing high school she joined Kariobangi Sports in the County League and never lasted as she was scouted and joined Gaspo Women Fc in the Kenya Women Premier League.

Here she could then only feature for a half season and then move to the MYSA based Mathare United Women. In her three season stay at Mathare she scaled to captain the side and as well-earned call up in the under 20 years World Cup qualifiers squad that represented the country in a match against Botswana.
In 2020 she decided to ditch Mathare and made a move back to Gaspo Women Fc where she has been with the team until now. Wacera has been instrumental at Gaspo featuring in the starting line-up day in day out. She has strongly played a major role in the Gaspo performance and this has not gone unnoticed as she earned her first senior National team call in April 14 2021 ahead of the 2022 AWCON Qualifiers. She was again recently called up in the team that was to prepare for a friendly match against Albania but unfortunately the friendly match was called off.
” My current focus is on the league. I want to work as much to support my team to see to it we win the league. I have so far scored 4 goals and provided 18 assists. We are also focusing to perform well in the cup.”
She added.
This Sunday 16/4/2023 Gaspo Women Fc will be playing Nakuru City Queens away in Nakuru in the FKF WOMEN CUP.
