Mathare humble Kibera in the Women Division One Slum-Derby.
The Women Division One Slum Derby was the highlight of the weekend as Mathare United Women fc hosted Kibera Soccer Women Fc in an early Sunday afternoon fixture at the Mysa headquarters in Komarock. Mathare carried the day by a goal to nil.
The highly rated Derby in the Women Second Tier League lived to it’s derby environment as the teams took off to stage in a hot atmosphere.
Both teams came into the match cautious on defence not to concede an early goal until the twenty second minute when the referee called both teams for a cooling break maybe for himself and his assistants too.
On very minimal attacks cut off by both defensive sides, the 35th minute seemed to break the match as Kibera’s Winnie Gwatenda tried on a solo attack but was carefully dealt with inside the box by the defender.

Come the 43rd minute Mathare earned a free kick on the edge of the line. Veronica Arrum curved it soo well into the net making the match go to break with Mathare leading on 1:0.
Come the second half Kibera tried as much to push for an equaliser but Mathare’s disciplined defence could not let them through. Less of action was witnessed as it ended with Mathare United Women Fc harvesting maximum points at home in the derby.
